A picture-perfect mountain wedding at The Breckenridge Nordic Center
This is the first wedding we’ve ever photographed at The Breckenridge Nordic Center. It is seriously one of our favorite wedding venues in all of Colorado. It has everything a couple needs for the perfect mountain soiree: fantastic high alpine forests with great views of Breck’s Peaks 8 & 7 framed perfectly through the lodge-pole pines, a handsome rustic building with plenty of character and room for a 10-200 person wedding, and tons of parking and privacy.
Colorado played really nice for Jayne and Ryan’s wedding with perfect sunny weather and very little wind, and that really made the Nordic Center photograph beautifully, but even on a cloudy or rainy day it would still look great on camera. The only downside we can see with the venue is that there isn’t a great bad weather option for the ceremonies. They clearly move rained out ceremonies into the reception hall, but it would be a bummer to reset the tables and it would be cramped for a ceremony. However, this is Colorado after all, and most of the time just have to wait 5 minutes and the rains and bad weather passes, so they probably don’t run into that scenario very often.
Jayne & Ryan: A wedding photographer’s dream couple
These two really are the prototypical couple we love to take photos of. Not only are they a very handsome couple, but their chemistry together is jealousy-inducing. They really know how to move and laugh and hold and kiss naturally and in an atmosphere of fun and joy. Yes, we know that not all couples can be Jayne & Ryan, but it’s worth pointing out and celebrating when they do come along, right?
My opinions of taking photos of these two was confirmed later at their “post-wedding couple’s session“. Jayne had originally wanted a TTD (Trash the Dress) session, but it morphed over time into more of a traditional bride and groom’s session and we were just more adventurous at The Garden of the Gods.
