Wedding Photography at The Flying Horse Ranch near Larkspur

Flying Horse Ranch is the latest wedding venue in the stellar holdings of the Flying Horse group. We have loved capturing weddings at The Club at Flying Horse, and were super stoked when we heard they’d acquired this ranch property Northeast of Black Forest.

When our first opportunity to photograph a wedding there came when Hannah and Blake booked us, we were not disappointed. It’s an incredible property, richly appointed, luxurious and spacious, and with a true sprawling Western feel as it is set on the picturesque rolling plains of Colorado.

The bride’s and grooms getting ready suites are second to none. The natural light from the numerous large windows allows for incredibly dramatic shots, and they are so luxurious and comfortable.

While Pikes Peak still looms in the distance to the West, the true charm of the Flying Horse Ranch is the vast rolling open spaces around it. Most of the venues we photograph weddings at in Colorado are either butted up against the mountains, or in the mountains, so long sweeping views of open sky and plains are not common. It gave Hannah and Blake’s photos something very unique in terms of look and feel.

The barn at the ranch is an awesome reception venue. We really like barns for receptions. It’s huge, and the outdoor patio photographs beautifully at dusk, especially for the first dances. We highly recommend couples consider the patio for their dances. It’s so worth it.

An officer and his lady

Blake met Hannah the day he arrived in town from Georgia to start boot camp at The Academy. Hannah was working the front desk of the hotel he was staying at the night before basic began. Blake was feeling particularly confident and simply asked the pretty girl at the front desk out to dinner. Hannah said yes and the rest is wedding history as they were married the day after Blake graduated as an officer in the Air Force four years later.

As their photos show, they are so great together. They have an easy comfort in each other’s arms, and when Blake started to cry as Hannah came down the aisle, no one was dry-eyed. Not even their photographers. You could feel how grateful they were to have found each other.

They took amazing photos together, and Hannah worked her butt off to plan a perfect wedding.
