Selected Weddings at The U.S. Air Force Academy Chapel
The United States Air Force Academy Chapel might be one of the the most iconic wedding ceremony venues in the entire country. It’s already a famous landmark in its own right, and tourists from all over the world flock there in droves every year to witness its majestic architecture first-hand.
We absolutely love capturing wedding photos there. We’ve been photographing weddings at the chapel for 14 years now, and we’ve never fallen out of love with the venue. It’s soaring ceiling and sleek design lend themselves to creating a grandeur that’s truly awe-inspiring. There’s something really beautiful about the juxtaposition of the cool grey aluminum walls and ceiling combined with the rainbow of colors and warmth that pours through the stained glass. Because of that rainbow of light that pours into the chapel, every angle has a different look and feel, and the night-time weddings in the Winter at the chapel are completely different because the rainbow of colors is gone, replaced by the warm glow of candlelight.
The tight and strict scheduling of USAFA Chapel weddings’ 2-hour blocks can be a little intimidating for couples. Not to fear! We’ve worked there for so many weddings and we’re good friends with Deb, the chapel’s wedding coordinator. We know exactly how to coordinate all of the amazing photos and shots across that vast area, including the LZ (“Landing Zone”) and the terrazzo.
The wind can be a constant factor around the Chapel, so bear that in mind when planning your hairstyle. We highly recommend an “up-do” for Air Force Chapel weddings!
