We already knew that capturing photos of Jayne & Ryan was a joy from their wedding a month earlier at The Breck Nordic Center, so when Jayne approached us about a post-wedding TTD (Trash the Dress) session,we were all about that. However, as the day grew closer, Jayne decided to be a little more conservative and instead of straight-up trashing the dress, the session became more of a second time to do couple’s portrait in the dress and suit, but in a completely different location than the wedding.
Well, even though we weren’t supposed to trash the dress, Colorado decided to make it really hard to do so by making sure that after Jayne got her “hair did”, and she and Ryan got all gussied up in their wedding attire that it was pouring rain by the time their session rolled around.
I’ve been doing wedding photography for 13 years now, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned it’s that you don’t cancel a photo session unless you absolutely have to. Wait it out. Something amazing might happen! Well, it sure did.
Wouldn’t you know it? The rain broke about 10 minutes later and although it kept sprinkling, the skies opened up and we got some of the most epic and dramatic clouds/skies that I’ve ever been able to capture. The full double rainbow was just the ridiculous icing on the cake. Bear in mind: none of these shots would have happened if any of us had been bummed by the pouring rain and cancelled the shoot too early.
Yet again, Jayne & Ryan, your fun-loving, adventurous spirits allowed me to get even more memorable images of the two of you. Thank you for trusting in my crazy insistence to push through bad weather, thank you for being such good sports, and thank you for being in love. You two are perfect together.
