To be honest, almost a decade ago I didn’t used to think Colorado Springs had that “urban” of a downtown. Those were the heady years when Trystan Photography had a Denver studio, too, and I spent most of my time shooting portraits in Denver’s LoDo, or out at the Garden of the Gods. The truth was, in the first few years of Trystan Photography I’d never really spent much time taking photographs in downtown Colorado Springs, even though we lived here.
I am ashamed to admit it, but over the last three years, with our “new” portrait studio downtown, I have come to adore taking photographs downtown. It’s got everything: it’s pretty when I want it to be, it’s vintage when I need it, it’s grungy and edgy when I’m feeling saucy, and it can look the part of a big metropolitan downtown, too. Plus, it’s really easy to get around and not overrun with people… so…
I officially admit it, Colorado Springs. Our downtown rocks, and I am very sorry for ever thinking otherwise.
Tristan’s senior portrait session downtown couldn’t have been more perfect. The light streaming in from Pikes Peak, the streets were relatively quiet, and the temp was perfect. And he gave me great stuff.
