This wedding day was a jubilant mixture of tender emotion, laughter, tears… and shots. ; )
The photo I got of Andy taking a stiff-sniff right out of the bottle with his boys cheering him on is one of my personal, all-time-favorites because it’s such a great expression of the fun part of being a dude at a wedding: rowdy, carefree man-fun. And yes, part of “man-fun” is getting a little warm buzz on. It actually helps with the photos. I prefer my couples sippin’. Loosens ‘em up!
St. Mary’s Cathedral is a perfect ceremony venue (of you’re Catholic, of course), and photographs beautifully. And for all the soaring vaulted ceilings and grand stained-glass windows, it still has an intimate feel. Not too big, at all, but still could seat more than most weddings. And the staff is super sweet and joyful, too, which is really important because nothing puts a bigger damper on the jubilation of a wedding day than a Dana-Carvey-esque “Church Lady”, more cantankerous than caring. But not here! These young ladies really do add to the wedding atmosphere at St. Mary’s, all smiles and sweet singing voices (yes, they sing, too).
And what can I say about Phantom Canyon? Their food is great, and the old rustic floors and beams of that old building are very classy and full of character.
What a great wedding! Thank you both, Jeanie and Andy, for choosing us to capture your perfect day.
