I am so inspired by “DIY-ers”. Lindsey and Wayne are no exception. They are the epitome of “do-it-yourself-ers”! And I am not only talking about their wedding!
First of all, they are self-made entreprenuers. They are marketing and web wizards at , Newgen Marketing, which they built themselves. As a fellow self-made entrepreneur, I really admire people who make their own way in this world. It’s not for the faint-of-heart, and most who try don’t succeed, so it’s always a pleasure to meet those of us whose grit and determination have paid off.
Secondly, their wedding was full of amazing details that Lindsey did herself:
- Lindsey’s “brooch bouquet” is simply one of the coolest concepts I have ever seen at a wedding. Completely hand made from antique and costume brooches, this stunning “bouquet” photographed beautifully and was a sight to behold (even though it did weigh in at just over 10 lbs!).
- The cake! Believe it or not, this ornate cake was done by hand, by Lindsey! I know, right? Ridiculously well done. I joked that she should open a cake shop, too, and she basically said, “Already did that. I’m kind of over it.” Yup. That’s right: she was a pastry chef, too, once.
- The “Marriage Emergency Box” was something Charlotte and I have never seen at a wedding, and we both adamantly agree that it should be a wedding tradition! Here’s how the box works. 1) The bride and groom write letters that explain why they fell in love and why they want to be married to each other. 2) They seal those letters in a box as part of the wedding ceremony with a bottle of wine and glasses. 3) The box sits untouched, on display in their home. 4) In the event that the couple find themselves in crisis, and questioning the very solvency of their marriage, they are to cease fighting, proceed to collect the box and contents, break open the box, pour the wine and read the letters aloud to each other. 5) Reminded of why they chose to do this in the first place, and the edge taken off by the fine wine warming their insides, the bride and groom will be relaxed enough to help each other safely remove the other’s head from their respective ass, and see their spouse for what they really are: the one they chose to spend the rest of their lives with, through everything good and bad, ugly and beautiful, joyous and heartbreaking.
I know I sound like a broken record about this next topic, but I DON’T CARE! It’s THE most important aspect of why Charlotte and I love this job, and darn it, I am going to harp on it until the day I die.
Lindsey and Wayne were awesome to work with, and so much fun. I knew they were going to be awesome from their stunning engagement session, and their wedding proved the theory (yet again): fun people having fun take beautiful photos. THAT’s why I harp on this about our clients so much. It’s a truth, and I want more fun people to see it, identify with it, and hire us so we can continue to love our jobs. Simple enough!
Thank you so much Lindsey and Wayne for trusting us with your wedding day. You two are wonderful together, and you have a very healthy outlook on the reality of marriage, and a lust for life and laughter that will guarantee you will make it through anything.
